Ingredients

  • 3 c. milk
  • 6 rounded Tbsp. shortening (Crisco)
  • 6 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. warm water
  • 3 pkg. dry yeast (1 strip)
  • 9 c. flour (more or less)

Directions

    Heat milk; stir in shortening, sugar and salt and cool. Dissolve yeast in warm water.

    After milk mixture has cooled, stir in yeast mixture; stir in flour.

    Knead dough until firm and smooth.

    Let rise to double size.

    Punch down and shape into individual rolls.

    Rub thin coating of shortening on outside of roll and place in baking pan.

    Let rise to double size.

    Bake in 375° oven until brown.

    Makes about 40 rolls.
