  • 10 cups (2-1/2 pounds) bread flour
  • 3/4 cup nonfat dry milk powder
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 4-1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3/4 cup butter-flavored shortening
  • 1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (110° to 115°)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup bread flour
  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons milk

    In a large bowl, combine the flour, milk powder, sugar and salt; cut in shortening until crumbly. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months.
