Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 egg (beaten separately)
  • 1 tsp. cream or milk
  • 1 box vanilla wafers
  • cherries (optional)
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 small can crushed pineapple (drained)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 pt. whipping cream

Directions

    Cream butter, add sugar and egg, beat well.

    Add milk or cream, nuts, pineapple, vanilla and stir well.

    Fold in 1/2 pint whipped cream.

    Roll 2/3 pound of vanilla wafers.

    Sprinkle 1/2 crumbs in bottom of 9 x 13-inch pan and pour the mixture over crumbs. Then sprinkle the other half of crumbs over the second layer.

    Set in refrigerator until chilled.

    Can be made several hours in advance.

    Serve with nuts or cherries on top.
