- 2 gal. cucumbers
- 1 pt. pickling salt
- 2 tsp. alum
- 8 pt. sugar
- 5 pt. vinegar
Directions

1Place sliced cucumbers in gallon jugs; pour salt over cucumbers, then fill with water.

2Let stand for 7 days.

3After 7 days, pour this off.

4Put 1 teaspoon of alum in each jug, then refill with fresh hot water.

5Let this stand overnight; pour off. Mix sugar and vinegar; stir well and pour over pickles.

6Pour off and heat 3 mornings.

7On the third morning, put pickles in pint jars.

8Seal.
