- 1 stick butter
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 c. pecans or walnuts
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. coconut
- 1 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Separate eggs; beat whites until stiff.

2Cream Crisco, butter and sugar.

3Add yolks, then add flour, salt and soda sifted together.

4Add nuts, vanilla, coconut and buttermilk.

5Fold in egg whites.

6Bake in 3 (8-inch) pans for 35 to 40 minutes at 350°.
