- 1 c. shortening
- 2 c. sugar
- 3 well beaten egg yolks
- 1 c. blackberry jam
- 3 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 c buttermilk
- 3 stiffly beaten egg whites
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°.

2Cook for 30 minutes.

3Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar.

4Add egg yolks and jam.

5Beat well.

6Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk, beating well after each addition.

7Fold in egg whites.

8Bake in 3 waxed paper-lined 9-inch layer cake pans.

9Cool and frost with chocolate mocha or white icing..
