Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons gelatin powder (1/2 oz)
  • 4 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 13 cup strong black italian coffee (espresso or strong coffee with a little instant added)
  • 14 coffee liqueur
  • 1 14 cups heavy cream
  • crystallized violets (optional, or some other lovely garnish)

Directions

    Melt the gelatin in a bowl of water over a pan of simmering water.

    Remove from heat.

    When cool and beginning to thicken, add sugar, coffee and liqueur.

    Whisk the cream until soft.
  5. 5
    Gradually add the coffee mixture to the cream.

    Continue whisking until the cream is thick and beginning to set.

    Pour into serving glasses and chill for 2-3 hours.

    Just before serving decorate each with a crystallized violet or some other garnish.
