  • 4 egg yolks, beaten until almost thick
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 egg whites, beaten until almost thick
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • powdered sugar
  • jelly or favorite filling

    Beat egg yolks until almost thick; gradually beat 1/4 cup sugar into egg yolks.

    Add vanilla.

    Beat egg whites until almost stiff.

    Add 1/2 cup sugar to whites and beat very stiff.

    Fold yolks into whites.

    Add flour, salt and baking powder, sifted together.

    Fold carefully.

    Bake at 375° for 12 minutes in a 10 1/2 x 15-inch pan, lined with wax paper.
