  • 1 lb. butter (not margarine)
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 2 small packs slivered almond pieces
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. clear Karo syrup
  • 2 (1/2 lb.) Hershey milk chocolate bars

Directions

    Melt butter and sugar in a pot, then add water and Karo syrup. Cook over low heat until mixture reaches hard-crack stage (300° if using candy thermometer).

    Stir the whole time.

    Remove from heat; add almonds and stir.

    Spread toffee on 2 well-greased cookie sheets and cool.
