- 1 1/4 cups flour
- 3/4 cup cornmeal
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
Directions

1Preheat oven to 400.

2Put about 2 tablespoons butter in a square pan and set it in the oven while mixing the batter.

3Mix the dry ingredients and then add the wet ingredients, stirring just until moistened.

4Pour batter into hot pan with the melted butter in it.

5Bake for about 20 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
