  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. self-rising flour
  • 1 c. milk
  • 12 Tbsp. butter
  • 3 Granny Smith apples, sliced
  • 1 tsp. apple pie spice
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 4 c. whipped cream
  • 1 c. red currant jelly

    Use a heavy 12-inch cast-iron skillet.

    Coat the sides liberally with nonstick spray.

    Preheat skillet in a 350° oven. In a large bowl, mix together with a wire whisk the sugar, flour and milk until thoroughly blended.

    (Do not overwork; you want it smooth and free of lumps.)

    In a separate 12-inch skillet, heat 4 tablespoons of butter to sizzling.

    Add the apples, apple pie spice and cinnamon; quickly cook them until they soften.
