- 1 lb. ground beef or Italian sausage
- 1 to 2 cloves garlic
- 1 can tomato puree
- 1 can tomato paste
- 2 to 3 cans water
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. dried basil, crushed
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 lb. cottage cheese
- 8 oz. Mozzarella cheese, coarsely ground
- 1/4 c. Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 Tbsp. chopped parsley
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1 pkg. (8 oz.) lasagna noodles
Directions

1Brown meat.

2If using sausage, remove casings.

3Drain off excess fat.

4Add remaining ingredients, except cheese, and simmer 30 to 45 minutes until slightly thickened.

5Cook noodles in 4 quarts boiling salted water, with 1 tablespoon cooking oil added. Stir gently.

6Cook approximately 15 minutes or until tender.

7Do not overcook.

8Drain and rinse.
