  • 1 c. milk
  • 3 c. plain flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

    Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

    Add sifted dry ingredients, alternating with milk.

    Beat after each addition. Add vanilla.

    Bake in 3 layers at 350° for 30 minutes until done. Frost with Lemon Cheese Filling.
