Lemon Nut Bread

Ingredients
- grated rind of 1 lemon
- 6 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. nut meats, chopped
Directions

1Cream together the rind, shortening and sugar.

2Add the eggs, one at a time, and milk; mix well.

3Add sifted flour, baking powder and salt.

4Fold in nut meats.

5Pour into lightly greased and floured loaf pan.

6Bake at 350° for about 50 to 60 minutes, or until done.

7After removing from oven and while bread is hot, pour over the following mixture of 1/3 cup sugar and the juice of 1 lemon.

8Remove bread from pan after topping has thoroughly soaked in and bread has cooled somewhat.

9Wrap in foil; store in refrigerator.
