- 1 c. butter or margarine
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 2 c. sugar
- 5 eggs
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. lemon extract
Directions

1In a mixing bowl, cream butter, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.

2Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

3Combine with buttermilk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.

4Stir in extracts.

5Pour into 3 greased and floured 9-inch cake pans.

6Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes or until test done.

7Cool for 10 minutes in pans before removing to wire racks to cool completely.

8Frost with Lemon Orange Frosting.
