  • 8 egg yolks
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. cold water
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. almond extract
  • 1/2 tsp. lemon extract
  • 1 1/4 c. plain flour
  • 8 egg whites
  • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. sugar

    Beat first 6 ingredients together until thick. Stir in flour. Beat egg whites, cream of tartar and salt until foamy. Slowly add 1 c. sugar, beating until stiff and glossy peaks form.

    Gradually fold yolk mixture into egg whites. Pour into ungreased Teflon coated 10 inch tube pan. Bake in 325° oven for 1 hour. Invert cake to cool.
