Macaroni Salad

Ingredients

  • 1 c. water
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. white vinegar
  • 1 pt. Hellmann's mayonnaise
  • 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
  • celery salt to taste
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 lb. rotini (corkscrew) macaroni
  • 2 c. celery
  • 1 c. onion
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 7 hard-boiled eggs (add these last)

Directions

    Mix first 3 ingredients in pan and heat until sugar is dissolved.

    Cool, then add mayonnaise, turmeric, celery salt, salt and pepper.

    Cook macaroni until tender.

    Drain and pour cold water over it again and drain.

    Mix with dressing (it will be soupy). Cover and refrigerate overnight.

    Next day, add celery, onion, pepper and eggs.

    Cover and refrigerate several hours.
