  • Maple butter filling
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup (medium/amber), at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or paste
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup small wild blueberries, nuts, raisins (optional)
