- 1 c. flour, sifted
- 3/8 c. (1/4 + 2 Tbsp.) sugar
- 1-1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1-1/2 tsp. salt
- 3/8 c. brown sugar
- 1/4 c. oil
- 3 unbeaten egg yolks
- 3/8 c. cold water
- 1 tsp. maple flavoring
- 1/2 c. egg whites
- 1/2 tsp. cream or tartar
- 1/2 c. nuts, chopped
Directions

1Whip the egg whites.

2Sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.

3Mix in the brown sugar.

4Add the oil, unbeaten egg yolks, cold water and maple flavoring.

5Gently fold in the egg whites and add the nuts.

6Pour into an ungreased loaf pan and bake at 325° for 50-55 minutes, or until top springs back when touched. Remove from oven and turn upside down on a wire rack to cool.
