Maple Syrup Cake

- 1/2 c. butter
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 unbeaten eggs
- 1 c. maple syrup
- 2 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 2 tsp. double-acting baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. hot water
Directions

1Cream the butter.

2Gradually add sugar. Stir well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.

3Blend in maple syrup gradually. Sift dry ingredients. Add hot water alternately with dry ingredients to creamed mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients (with electric mixer, use low speed).

4Pour into an oblong pan which has been well-greased and floured or two 8-inch round layer pans. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool and frost.
