- 3/4 c. sugar
- 5 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 1/2 c. milk
- 3 sq. (3 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate, melted
- 3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 2 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Prepare, bake and cool a 9-inch crust.

2In saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch and dash of salt.

3Stir in milk.

4Cook and stir this mixture until bubbly.

5Reduce heat; cook and stir 2 minutes more.

6Add chocolate.

7Stir 1 cup of hot mixture into yolks; return to pan.

8Return to gentle boil.

9Cook and stir 2 minutes. Stir in butter and vanilla.

10Turn into pastry shell.

11Prepare meringue for pie.

12Spread on top of pie.

13Seal meringue to edges. Bake at 350° for 12 to 15 minutes.

14Brown the top and cool. Chill.
