- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2 eggs
- 2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. cocoa
- 1 c. boiling water
- 1 c. hot coffee
- 1 tsp. soda
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
Directions

1Dissolve cocoa in boiling water and mix hot coffee with soda. Cream shortening and sugar.

2Add all but baking powder and flour. Add baking powder to flour and add to creamed mixture.

3Beat until flour disappears.

4Bake at 350° for 30 to 40 minutes.

5May use 13 x 9-inch pan or 2 round pans.

6Dust cooled cake with powdered sugar or frost with your favorite frosting.

7Moist enough to enjoy without frosting.
