  • 1 lb. oleo (Blue Bonnet)
  • 2 1/2 c. sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 4 c. plain flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 lb. English walnuts
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 oz. lemon flavoring (extract)
  • 4 oz. candied red cherries
  • 4 oz. candied green cherries

    Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs.

    Beat well.

    Add lemon extract; mix.

    Add dry ingredients; mix well.

    Add nuts and fruit (candied) by hand.

    Batter will be very stiff.

    Spoon into a well-greased and floured tube pan.
