Mulled Wine

Ingredients

  • 1 lemon
  • 2/3 c. sugar
  • 2 c. water
  • 1/2 tsp. allspice
  • 1 tsp. whole cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks (3-inch)
  • 1 bottle Burgundy or other good dinner wine (4/5 qt.)

Directions

    Slice lemon and combine with sugar, water and spices.

    Heat to boiling and boil gently for 10 minutes.

    Turn heat to low; add wine and heat very hot, but do not boil.
