- 1 pt. (2 c.) warm milk
- 1 1/2 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 1/2 c. flour (approximately)
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 whole egg
- lemon rind from 1 lemon and juice
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. melted shortening (I use vegetable oil)
- 3 c. flour
- powdered sugar icing
- 1 1/2 to 2 c. sugar
Directions

1Let warm milk, yeast and 2 tablespoons of sugar stand until yeast comes to the top, about 5 to 10 minutes.

2Add enough flour (approximately 2 1/2 cups) for not real thin or thick. Let rise until double.

3Add egg yolks, whole egg, lemon rind and juice, salt, 3/4 cup sugar and shortening.
