- sugar
- salt
- vinegar
- spices (as desired)
Directions

1Wash pickles and slice.

2Add 1 cup salt to every gallon and add boiling water.

3Let stand 3 days.

4Take out and wash.

5Put 3 tablespoons alum in plain water; let stand 3 days.

6Take out and wash pickles.

7Heat vinegar, spices and sugar (1 cup sugar to 1 cup vinegar). Pour over pickles and let stand 3 days.

8Put in jars.

9Heat vinegar mixture and seal.
