  • 6 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 lb. shortening or 3/4 lb. shortening and 1/4 lb. oleo
  • 1 packet dry yeast
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • fruit, nut and poppyseed fillings

Directions

    Mix flour, salt and sugar.

    Work in shortening like pie dough. Dissolve yeast in evaporated milk as directed on yeast package. Add to flour mixture.

    Add eggs and vanilla.

    Keep working and kneading until mixture forms a shiny ball.

    Wrap in plastic wrap and chill 8 hours or overnight.
