  • 8 oz. fine oatmeal
  • 4 oz. flour
  • 2 oz. lard
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 dessert spoonful sugar
  • 1 small tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 beaten egg
  • hot water to bind

Directions

    Rub lard into flour and oatmeal.

    Sift in sugar, salt and powders.
  3. 3
    Add beaten egg and make into a nice dough with hot water.
  4. 4
    Roll out thin and cut into cakes.
  5. 5
    Bake in a hot oven for a few minutes.
