- 3 c. rolled oats
- 3 c. boiling water
- 1/2 c. toasted wheat germ
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 1/4 c. honey
- 1 Tbsp. yeast or 1 pkg.
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 1 c. whole wheat flour
- 2/3 c. dried skim milk
- 5 to 6 c. flour
- 1/2 c. sunflower seeds
Directions

1Put the rolled oats, oil, honey, salt and wheat germ in a large bowl.

2Pour boiling water over this mixture and cool to lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water with 1 teaspoon of honey.

3Add to the lukewarm rolled oats mixture.

4Sift the powdered milk with the flour and add it cup by cup to the mixture.

5Stir thoroughly. When dough begins to get stiff, turn it out onto a floured surface and work in the remaining flour.

6Add sunflower seeds and knead into dough.

7Put the dough in a greased bowl and let it rise until double in bulk.

8Punch dough down, form into two loaves (either round, free-form loaves or in bread pans.

9Let rise until double in bulk.

10Bake at 400° for 45 minutes.
