- 1 c. quick oats
- 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. margarine
- 2 c. boiling water
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1 c. warm water
- 5 c. white flour
Directions

1Mix the first 5 ingredients in a very large bowl (4 to 5-quart).

2Pour over the boiling water; stir to combine.

3Dissolve yeast in 1 cup warm water; mix both together.

4Stir in 5 cups white flour.

5Knead dough, in bowl, for approximately 10 minutes, adding flour as needed.

6Place dough in covered, greased bowl; let rise until doubled in size.

7Punch down; shape into 2 loaves. Place in two 9 x 5 x 3-inch pans.

8Bake at 350° for 30 to 40 minutes.

9Cool on rack on side; brush with margarine for a soft crust.

10Makes 2 loaves.
