- 2 1/4 c. scalded milk
- 2 c. quick cooking rolled oats
- 1/4 c. brown sugar, packed
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. soft shortening
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1 egg, beaten
- 4 1/2 to 5 c. flour
Directions

1Pour milk over oats, brown sugar, salt and shortening in a large bowl.

2Pour the yeast into the warm water.

3When milk mixture is lukewarm, add dissolved yeast and egg.

4Mix in flour. Turn onto lightly floured board.

5Cover and let stand 10 minutes. Knead until smooth. Place in greased bowl; let rise until double. Shape into rolls.

6Let rise.

7Bake at 400° for 12 to 15 minutes.
