- 1/2 lb. ground lean beef
- 1/2 lb. ground veal
- 1/2 lb. ground pork
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1/2 c. fine dry bread crumbs
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. molasses
- 1/4 tsp. ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp. allspice
- 1 small onion, chopped fine
- 1 large head green cabbage
- 1/2 c. boiling water
- 1/4 c. butter or oleo
- 1/2 c. milk (approximately)
- 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
Directions

1Blend meats, egg, milk and bread crumbs.

2Stir in salt, molasses, spices and onion.

3Mix well.

4Cut out core of cabbage. Separate outer 12 leaves.

5Remove thick vein of each leaf.

6Drop leaves in boiling water.

7Cover; steam 3 minutes or until soft and bright green.

8Remove with slotted spoon and reserve liquid. Place meat on leaves.

9Fold sides in and roll up.

10Fasten with a wooden pick.

11Heat butter and brown rolls on all sides.

12Transfer to a 3-quart casserole. Mix reserved water from boiling leave with butter and drippings.

13Pour over filled rolls.
