Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. margarine
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 c. molasses
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 3 c. flour (approximately)

Directions

    Cream margarine, sugar, egg and molasses.

    Stir in flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger and cloves.

    Mix well.

    Stir in raisins and nuts.

    Shape in long rolls on a lightly floured surface.

    Place on a greased cookie sheet.

    Press down lightly. Sprinkle with sugar (optional).

    Bake at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes, until golden brown.

    Cut diagonally into bars.

    Cool on rack.
