- 7 lb. cucumbers
- 2 gal. water
- 2 c. lime
- 2 qt. vinegar
- 4 1/2 lb. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1 tsp. celery seed
- 1 tsp. whole cloves
- 1 tsp. mixed spices
Directions

1Slice cucumbers lengthwise, then scoop seeds out with spoon. Cut in 1/2-inch thick slices.

2Cover with 2 gallons water in which 2 cups lime has been dissolved.

3Cover; let stand 24 hours.

4Drain and rinse at least 3 times in cold water.

5Cover with ice water and let stand 3 hours.

6Drain well and dry with towel.

7Make a syrup of vinegar, sugar, salt and spices.

8Stir well and heat. Pour syrup over cukes and let stand overnight.

9The next morning, boil for about 35 minutes or until transparent.

10Put in sterilized jars and seal.

11Save leftover syrup.

12Cover and refrigerate until next making.
