- 1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 c. self-rising corn meal
- 1 Tbsp. onion powder
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3/4 tsp. sugar
- 2 c. milk
- 1 egg, beaten
- vegetable oil
Directions

1Peel onions.

2Cut into 1/2-inch slices and separate into rings.

5Beat with a wire whisk until mixture is smooth.

6Pour oil to a depth of 2 to 3 inches into a Dutch oven or heavy saucepan; heat to 375°. Dip onion rings in batter.

7Fry, turning once, until golden brown, about 2 minutes.

8Drain on paper towels.
