  • 2 large Bermuda or Vidalia onions, sliced
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 c. Swiss cheese, grated
  • 1 (10 3/4 oz.) can cream of chicken or mushroom soup
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. soy sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 loaf French bread
  • butter

Directions

    Saute onions in 2 tablespoons butter until wilted and transparent.

    Remove from heat.

    Add cheese, soup, milk, soy sauce and pepper.

    Spread mixture in 9 x 12-inch baking dish.

    Slice French bread in 1-inch slices.

    Butter top of each slice and place on onion mixture.

    Bake at 350° for 20 to 30 minutes or until bubbly and bread is browned.
