  • 2 c. sugar
  • 3 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1/2 c. fresh orange juice
  • 2 Tbsp. grated orange peel
  • 1 c. pecans
  • 1 pkg. chopped dates

Directions

    Mix all ingredients well.

    Bake in a very slow oven at about 300° in a foil-lined tube pan.

    Before taking it out of pan and while still warm, pour topping over it and let stand overnight in pan.
