Orange Scones

Ingredients

  • orange butter (1/2 c. butter and 2 Tbsp. orange marmalade)
  • 2 c. flour
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 tsp. grated orange peel
  • 1/3 c. margarine
  • 1/2 c. chopped orange sections, drained
  • 1/4 c. milk
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar

Directions

    Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and orange peel.

    Cut in margarine (like pastry).

    Add orange sections, milk and eggs. With fork, stir until mixture leaves side of bowl; will be gooey. Turn dough out on floured surface.

    Knead 10 times.

    Pour out in 6-inch circle on lightly greased cookie sheet.

    Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon sugar.

    Cut in 8 wedges and separate a little bit. Bake 15 to 20 minutes at 400°.
