  • 1 lb. orange slices, cut up
  • 8 oz. dates, cut up
  • 2 c. chopped pecans
  • 1/2 c. coconut
  • 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 c. oleo, softened
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 3 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

    Combine the first 5 ingredients and set aside. Mix the oleo, sugar, eggs, soda mixed in buttermilk, flour and salt. Mix and pour over fruit and mix together. Spoon into a 12-cup pan or Bundt pan, greased well. Bake at 300° for 1 hour and 45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Take ice pick and punch full of holes while still in pan. Mix 1 cup orange juice and 2 cups powdered sugar. Pour over cake while warm. Leave in pan several hours, then take out.
