  • 2 c. chopped pecans
  • 1 lb. orange slice candy, chopped
  • 1 c. butter
  • 1 can flaked coconut
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. plain flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. dates, cut
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk (1 Tbsp. vinegar to 1 c. milk to substitute for buttermilk)

    Cut dates, pecans and orange slices into small pieces.

    Add coconut.

    Melt butter and pour over mixture.

    In another bowl, cream the eggs and sugar.

    Add flour, soda and buttermilk and mix well.

    Pour over nut mixture.

    Mix well.

    Bake in a tube pan at 300° for 2 hours.
