- 2 cups sifted flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 12 teaspoon baking soda
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 34 cup finely chopped dates
- 1 12 teaspoons fresh grated orange rind
- 34 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 34 cup orange, juce
Directions

1In a large bowl, sift together 2 cups flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

2In a small bowl, combine dates, orange rind, and walnuts with 1 tablespoons flour and set aside.

3In another bowl, combine the beaten egg, sugar, butter and orange juice; blend well.

4Stir into the dry ingredients, blending well.

5Stir in date mixture and blend well.

6Pour into greased and floured 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch loaf pan.

7Bake in preheated 350 degree oven 1 hour or until bread tests done.

8Cool in pan on wire rack for 10 minutes.

9Remove from pan; cool on rack.
