- cucumbers
- 1 c. salt, dissolved in 1 gal. water
- vinegar
- sugar and spices to taste
Directions

1Soak cucumbers in brine overnight (1 cup salt dissolved in 1 gallon of water).

2Drain and cut in chunks.

3Cook until just hot through in vinegar and water to cover, 2 parts vinegar to 1 part water.

4Cook a layer at a time in flat pan.

5Pack in jars.

6Drain off excess liquid.

7Make a syrup to suit your taste as to sugar and spices.

8Pour over pickles in jars to cover, having the syrup boiling hot.

9Seal at once.
