Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • dash of Tabasco sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. cold water
  • 1 pt. oysters (and liquid)
  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 3 c. milk
  • 1 c. light cream
  • paprika
  • oyster crackers

Directions

    Combine flour, salt, Tabasco sauce and cold water.

    Blend to a smooth paste.

    Stir in oysters and liquid. Add butter.

    Simmer over very low heat 5 minutes, just until edges of oysters curl, stirring gently. Combine milk and cream; scald and pour into oysters. Remove from heat and cover.

    Let stand 15 minutes to blend flavors.

    Heat soup tureen and dishes.

    Reheat stew briefly to serving temperature.

    Pour into tureen. Dash with paprika on top.

    Pass crackers.
