- 2/3 c whole milk
- 4 T sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 4 tsp cornstarch
- 4 tsp cold unsalted butter
Directions

1Put milk and 2 T sugar in pan and bring to boil. Combine egg yolk, remaining sugar, and vanilla and beat of high till pale yellow in color. Sift the cornstarch in the egg yolk mixture and stir to combine.

2When the milk has come to a boil, pour it into the egg mixture while beating on low speed, then return to saucepan and bring back to a boil whisking constantly. Remove from heat and stir in the butter. Cover w wrap and chill. Can be made a day ahead
