- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. dark Karo syrup
- 1/4 c. cold water
- 1 tsp. butter
- 1 c. unsalted raw peanuts (small Spanish preferred)
- 1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
- 1 level tsp. soda
Directions

1Boil sugar, syrup and water until thread is spun on spoon, about 238°.

2Add butter, peanuts and vanilla.

3Cook until peanuts begin popping, about 290°.

4Remove from heat.

5Add soda and stir quickly.

6Pour onto a buttered cookie sheet with sides.

7When cold, break by hitting the candy with a metal tablespoon.

8Do all stirring with a wooden spoon.
