Ingredients

  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. Karo light syrup
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. water
  • 1 tsp. butter or vanilla flavoring
  • 2 c. raw Virginia peanuts (can also use regular peanuts)
  • 1 Tbsp. butter

Directions

    Combine sugar, syrup and water in a large pan.

    Cook over high heat, stirring until syrup tests to 230°.

    Add peanuts and salt, stirring down when boils up.

    Cook to 290°.

    Remove from fire and add soda mixed with 1 teaspoon water, butter and flavoring.

    Stir thoroughly.

    Pour on marbled slab or buttered cookie sheet, pulling to thin out (wear gloves).

    Cool before breaking.
