Ingredients

  • 3 lb. pears, peeled, cored and chopped through food chopper
  • 1 1/2 lb. sugar
  • 1/2 lb. raisins
  • 2 oranges and their juice
  • grated rind from 1 orange
  • nut meats (if desired)

Directions

    Cook together until thick.

    Cook very slowly, 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

    Add chopped nut meats when cooking is done, as heat toughens the nut meats.

    Put into jars and seal.
