- 1 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 1 c. sugar
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. soft shortening
- 1 egg, separated
- 3 Tbsp. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. pecans
Directions

1Heat oven to 375°.

2Sift flour, sugar and salt into bowl.

3Mix in thoroughly with fork the shortening, egg yolk, milk and vanilla.

4Form into balls the size of a small walnut.

5Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

6Press 1/16-inch thick with bottom of greased glass dipped in sugar.

7Brush with slightly beaten egg white.
-
8Sprinkle with finely chopped pecans.

9Bake 8 to 10 minutes.

10Do not overbake.

11Makes about 5 dozen.
