  • 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie shell
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. white Karo syrup
  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 c. pecans

Directions

    Combine sugar, syrup, butter and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

    Pour this hot syrup slowly over beaten eggs, stirring constantly. Cool. Add vanilla and pecans; pour

    into pie shell. Bake at 400° for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 375° and bake 35 to 40 minutes longer.

    (I don't usually let my syrup mixture cool before baking.)
