- 1 12 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 13 cup light cream
- 13 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons butter or 2 teaspoons margarine
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 12 cup chopped walnuts or 12 cup chopped pecans
Directions

1Butter the sides of a heavy 2 qt saucepan.

2Combine sugars, cream, milk, butter in the pan.

3Cook over med heat, stirring constantly until sugars dissolve and mix comes to boil.

4Continue cooking 236 degrees (soft-ball stage) stirring only enough to prevent sticking.

5Remove from heat immediately and cool to lukewarm (110 degrees).

6Add Vanilla.

7Beat vigorously until mixture loses its gloss and becomes very thick (about 10 minutes).

8Quickly stir in the nuts.

9Immediately turn into a butter 8x4x2 loaf pan.

10Score into squares while still warm.

11Cut when it is firm.
